When curating a newsletter for your readers, we know that it is important for the process to be both easy and intuitive, offering time savings over the old ways of copying and pasting into a document or email. That is why we are always looking for ways to improve your experience and processes within the Vable platform. We’ve made some recent changes to the way your Manually Curated Newsletters function based on user feedback and hope that you find these improvements make your experience even better.

Updates to Manually Curated Newsletters include:

  • When adding a new or previously created Topic to your Newsletter, now you will see the Topic heading within your Content pane right away. Previously new Topic headings only became visible after a subsequent loading of new content. This change makes it possible for you to create new Topics and move previously-loaded content into those without waiting for new content to be loaded into your Newsletter.

  • Topic headings will now automatically be hidden out of your Newsletter’s preview and publish if there is no content within that section. Previously administrators needed to manually hide out Topic names for empty sections, but this update saves administrators time and prevents accidental publishes of Topic names that are not required for a specific publish of the Newsletter.

  • Article uploads (whether directly into a Newsletter or a Curated Feed) will now assign a unique identifier to that content item. Previously, articles uploaded via URL would connect to the existing article within the database, if it existed. This prevented administrators from republishing links within a Newsletter (such as a link to an upcoming event, survey or other links which might be important to include in multiple editions of a Newsletter). With this update, administrators have the ability to upload an item into multiple publishes of a Newsletter.

  • Now Temporary Topics (those which are created for a single publish of a Manually Curated Newsletter) can be rearranged within the Newsletter to appear in the order an administrator wishes. Previously, Temporary Topics were locked at the top of the Newsletter, but these are now moveable within the Newsletter Configuration dialog. After rearranging the order within the Newsletter Configuration dialog, you may need to refresh your page to see the change in the Content pane.

  • We have added new functionality to allow the published content from a Curated Newsletter to be loaded, in its entirety, into a second Curated Newsletter, allowing easy secondary curation of content for a separate audience. This is useful if content from a Curated Newsletter should go to multiple audiences with slight differences in it. We hope that you find these updates and new features enhance your processes. Let us know what you think!
